MENCAP GARDEN  PROJECT
Working with people with learning disabilities to provide horticultural
training and work experience
This is the principal project administered by
Pembrokeshire Mencap : the project began in
1983 with the leasing of the garden from the
National Trust. The current garden now covers five
and a half acres. It was originally  the walled garden
of the former Stackpole Court which was demolished
in 1962 prior to the sale of the Stackpole Estate.
Since the Society acquired the garden, it has been
developed to provide a service for people with
learning difficulties.
Nearly all the persons enjoying the service we
provide are enrolled on accredited training courses
administered by a full time staff of four together
with a very important group of volunteers who work
within the Gardens and support  the staff and
students.
The Plants and Produce grown  as a part of the
training process bring the Gardens back to life and provide an opportunity for everyone to buy Locally produced fresh
produce and plants.
